Fragment (Hey Beautiful)
Another of my intro verses to “Hey Beautiful.” I like to write a new one for each big show. Considering the gig tonight is the first in about 18 months, I guess that counts.
when she was good, she was very, very good
but when she was mean she was better
she made the rules, but like all lovesick fools
i relished the rules to the letter
when she departed, i was brokenhearted
thrown off with only my grief
now i comb the town, i walk up streets and down,
desperately searching for some small relief…
